Visits are finished!

We had our last home study visit yesterday afternoon. Melissa came to our house and asked questions about our home, neighborhood, community, etc. It was pretty informal and only took an hour. She also did a walk-through of our house, just to get an idea of where we live. Our Bethany office had just decided that they didn't need to do the things like testing water temperature and measuring railings for an adoption home study, just for foster families. So it was pretty easy! It's nice to have that all done.

It will take about 2 weeks for the home study report to be written, finalized and approved. In the meantime, we are finishing up our adoption profile book. This is a hardcover photo book that we order from Shutterfly and give to Bethany to show expectant moms. They can begin showing our profile as soon as our home study is approved, so I hope to order our book soon! We will also be working on our training hours, reading a few books and attending some presentations. Other than that it's mostly just waiting for a phone call from Bethany that a family is considering us. Melissa said it can feel very quiet for families, after all of the paperwork and visits that we have just gone through. She will follow up with us for sure every 3 months and we can check in with them at any time.
